'of public lecture on respect'

I had a matter in PJ Magistrate's Court this morning. As I was walking towards the Court's compound, i heard some noise coming from the guard house.."hai kak..selamat pagi, jalan baik2 (laughing)..."..And I was wondering "am I at the Central Market bus station or what?!"..I told myself not to react first because I didn't wanna ruin my mood before my case even started. But that didn't mean that I was just gonna let them get away with that.. I was hoping that on my way out after I finished my case, the Guards were gonna do the same thing..

I was so I was on my way out, these words were uttered "eh jalan ada barang jatuh la..(laughing).."..I quickly turned around, I looked at their faces and these words came out:

"Excuse me,awak ni bekerja di Mahkamah kan, boleh tolong hormat semua orang yang ada dan datang sini?? hormat semua orang!"

They were stunned.

"tolong jaga adab dan hormat semua orang di Mahkamah ni!"..they were like "baik..baik".

I walked off. There you go. A free 'public lecture' on Thursday morning!

Nothing can bring me to my highest boiling point than to see people being rude to women just because they are women.

Would they do this to some guy on the street? No! They wouldn't. So it is our duty to teach them a lesson or two. Respect women for you can prevent yourself from being idiotically uncivilized!

Pulau Batu Putih : mystery is solved!

"dokumen awak hilang lah..file semula" i guess this sounds very familiar particularly to litigation lawyers...imagine you file tonnes of documents in Court and you'd have sleepless nights thinking whether your documents would be in the Court's file for your coming trial. and the moment the officer tells you that the documents are missing, by showing the filing receipt won't do much help..that's how things go as far as I'm concerned. wonder lah..leadership by example i believe.

we lost Batu Putih Island to Singapore because we failed to produce the letter issued by the British Governor in Butterworth to Temenggong of Johor asking permission to build a lighthouse on that island. and why we couldn't produce the letter?oh yah..we lost it!

Pulau Batu Putih legal battle?definitely can't 'win one'.win-win situation?not even close!

a lesson for every one though. The importance of amanah/trust :-

"Verily! Allah commands that you should render back the trusts to those to whom they are due.'' (4:58)

"Truly, We did offer Al-Amanah (the trust or moral responsibility or honesty and all the duties which Allah has ordained) to the heavens and the earth, and the mountains, but they declined to bear it and were afraid of it (i.e., afraid of Allah's torment). But man bore it. Verily, he was unjust (to himself) and ignorant (of its results)". (33:72)

Mahathir when asked on the justification of the use of ISA (mind you that he has been championing the cause to permanently infest this country with ISA) on BBC Hard Talk responded that The Guantanamo is much worse than the Kamunting Camp.

is he for real?

the same alleged torture, the same violation of principles of justice and humanity, the same violation of divine teachings. what makes it any different?

a wrong can never be justified with another wrong.

KUALA LUMPUR (May 20, 2008): The wife of an Internal Security Act (ISA) detainee lodged a police report today alleging that her husband, who was detained on suspicion of being a spy for the Thai police, is paralysed as a result of the torture and beating he suffered at the Kamunting detention centre.

Sharmila Uthiakumar, 24, of Tanjung Malim, who was accompanied by her brother-in-law and members of the Anti-ISA Movement (GMI), said she learnt from her husband, K. Sanjeev Kumar, that he has become wheelchair-bound because of the beating and torture which he underwent for almost 10 months at the centre.

She also claimed that he had been warned by Special Branch police personnel at the camp that if he confided in anyone about the assaults, they would arrest her and torture her in the same way.

Sharmila told reporters after lodging a report against the internal security minister, the police and the Kamunting detention centre at the Dang Wangi police headquarters today that Sanjeev, a motorcycle workshop owner, was arrested by police last July 28 at his workplace without reason.

She said he was taken to their house, which was searched for two hours, after which the police team seized a parang and firecrackers from her house and took Sanjeev away.

Sharmila said the police refused to tell them despite asking them repeatedly why Sanjeev was arrested but later that day the family received a letter from the police saying her husband was being held under the ISA.

She said she was allowed to meet her husband in Bukit Aman only two weeks after his detention. On Sept 22, he was sent to the Kamunting detention centre.

"They only told us that he was an agent spying for the Thai police. He has also been denied of medical attention despite being in critically ill health. This led to his paralysis. Please release him and if they have anything against him, then charge him in court." she said.

GMI chairman Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh said the police should stop using the ISA as it was cruel and unfair.

"Such cases are not new. This is a repeat and many have suffered the same horroful fate. We urge the government to release Sanjeev and charge him in court if at all he has committed an offence but to hold him like this is unjust and inhumane." he said.

He said he will raise the case with the Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) and hope steps will be taken to put an end to such incidents.

and E said "sabar adalah sebahagian daripada sabarudin"..even though it is very much deviated from the right saying , even though it only invited a hysterical laugh from me (sorry about that, it was darn funny) which is "sabar adalah sebahagian daripada iman"..i still get what he's trying to say.

well, seriously, you (it could be just about anyone) can by all means forward my comments/view points to almost anyone be it the ministers or even George Bush for that matter. it's pretty obvious that i make my blog open to public for an obvious reason : to get my opinions across!
and to appreciate the art of expressing one's opinion and be open to criticism and constructive discussion.

thank God that there are still people who can understand and respect that.

"if i knew accessing internet through my phone would cause so much confusion (yah, instead of sending it to "all" and not to some individual, i'd rather stick to my old conservative phone..hmm.on second thot, why should i even bother?as long as people get what i'm trying to say..i'm glad...:)"--(me talking to myself)

oh how interesting life can really amuses me.

i always tell myself and admit the fact that i sometimes don't seem to care about almost anything that is revolving around me, including my own self.but what really bothers me as i grow older each day is the fact that i couldnt be a good daughter to my mom, the fact that she loves me so much that most of the time i get to do things my way.she still buys me loadsa things that i like, she'll send me me vitamins every time i tell her i'm not feeling well.she'll send me my renewed road tax slip every time i need to get it renewed.she buys me nice collection of baju kurung so that i won't be wearing the same old baju kurung over and over again. she would cry for me whenever she sees me crying. and today i just wanna let her know that i love her so much, more than anything else.

mak, happy mother's day:)

God is great! and i keep telling that to myself. sometimes when i am in so much trouble, and i couldn't figure out the way out, all i could hear is a voice at the back of my head telling me to ask Him to help me out."God please help me, pleaseeeee".and the next thing i know, everything is well sorted out.everything goes back to normal.come to think of it, it's a little surreal, but it's true.indeed God is great!.it's something the eyes cannot see..but the heart can always tell.

it makes me think.

how much He loves us. even though sometimes He comes last on our priority list. He gives us everything that we have.yet we still question why we cant have this and that. He gives us so much.yet we still have the guts to question why is this so and that so. He gives us intelligence, yet we are still an arrogant lot to have the guts to ever think that we are the most intelligent beings on earth. He gives us conscience and compassion for us to be forgiving and receptive to other people's weaknesses for we are flawed.

a reminder to myself indeed.still contemplating.
